May we use an alternate format?

Absolutely! Some schools run small round-robin tournaments in smaller groups..

This is especially useful if you want to have different leagues, such as dorms, sorors/frats, honors, open to all, etc.

You are "good to go" if you can document your format and participants with sign-up sheets and game scoresheets.
